The Role of Ultrasound in Central Line Placement

A Lecture And Hands-On Demo Using An Innovative Multi-Specialty Simulator For Image-Guided Interventions

April 14 | 11:00AM – 11:40AM GMT

The placement of a central venous line is an essential technique in the treatment of many hospitalized patients.  In this webinar, we will discuss the importance of using ultrasound to guide this procedure.  In addition, we will demonstrate the central line intervention using the new PERC Mentor Suite simulator for image-guided percutaneous interventions.

The Central Line Simulation Module incorporates self-guided hands-on tasks and a variety of clinical cases which enhance procedural understanding, skills acquisition and manual dexterity of central venous line placement in the internal jugular vein or the subclavian vein, using in-plane and out-of-plane ultrasound guidance techniques.  The simulated procedure is accompanied by comprehensive educational aids and includes complications and performance assessment.
