IMSH Learning Lab: Indiana University Case Study

INTEGRATION OF HIGH-FIDELITY VR LAP MENTOR SIMULATOR IN SURGICAL HANDS-ON TRAINING

February 17 | 2:00PM – 3:00PM EST

One hour webinar

At IMSH, join Prof. Dimitrios Stefanidis as he discusses how laparoscopic simulation is utilized in the Indiana University surgical training program.  Learn how the simulation center manages during the pandemic, how they use the simulators for remote learning and monitoring, and incorporation of surgical simulation in their curricula.  They will share the impact of simulation on learners, educators and ultimately on patient safety.

This session will also showcase the LAP Mentor as it simulates the Nissen Fundoplication and Inguinal Hernia procedures in a fascinating demo.  The LAP Mentor advanced high-fidelity laparoscopic simulator will be featured with a focus on how it is used in a clinical setting.   It is designed to train multi-level learners to master basic laparoscopic skills as well as the most complex procedures.  This session will show how these capabilities benefit Indiana University’s Surgical Training Program.
