FAQ

What are the advantages of using D2P medical software for 3D models?

D2P was designed to answer medical staff 3D model preparation unmet needs. Its simplicity and automatic processes minimize the need of technical expertise and ease the adoption of printing technologies by healthcare community. Operators can create their 3D models in minutes, inspect their results on the fly and control the entire process from DICOM to 3D printing without leaving their working desk.

What makes the D2P different than other 3D radiologic applications?

Creating and preparing 3D models for printing requires several working steps. The majority of 3D applications are designed to meet diagnostic and image analysis needs and don’t provide end-to-end solution. Unlike these applications, the D2P provide full creation suite that address all 3D model preparation steps in a single product. As a results, model preparation time is shorten, operator is not required to expertise in several different products and associated cost are reduced.

What makes the PROcedure Rehearsal Studio different than other medical simulators?

Medical simulators are designed to meet training and education needs using a limited set of anatomies. Unlike general medicalsimulators, the PROcedure Rehearsal Studio allows clinicians to practice specific medical procedures based on their own patient’s CTA scans (Computed Tomography Angiography), in a virtual reality environment.
Practicing on patient specific anatomy may assist in the evaluation of endovascular treatment options, simplify procedure planning and increase the confidence of the surgical team in the real procedure. As a result, procedure time may shorten, which to the patient means less time undersedation, reduced exposure to radiation, and fewer complications and risks.

What imaging modalities are supported?

The D2P support CT, CBCT and MR modalities.

Is D2P considered a medical device?

The D2P is a medical device cleared by the FDA for the purpose of printing of patient specific anatomical models for variety of uses such as training and education, pre-operative planning and for the purpose of simulating and evaluating surgical treatment options.

What is Virtual Reality (VR)?

Virtual reality (VR) is a computer based environment that simulates physical presence in 3 dimensions. Most current virtual reality environments are primarily visual experiences displayed on a computer screen.
Some advanced, haptic systems include tactile information, generally known as force feedback in medical, gaming and military applications.

Is there a need for special preparation or tests patients shall undergo prior to their procedure in order to enable the operator to prepare their 3D model?

There is no need for any additional testing or preparation other than those routinely performed and suggested by the referring physician.
Patient’s scanned files are uploaded into the D2P workstation. The software generates a 3D model which can be analyzed, printed or watched in virtual reality environment.
