VAGINAL CUFF CLOSURE MODULE
The module provides a unique opportunity to practice vaginal cuff suturing using unidirectional and bidirectional Barbed Sutures.
- The Unidirectional Barbed Suture consists of 360 degree unidirectional anchors, armed with a surgical needle on one end and an adjustable fixation loop on the opposite end. The anchors are oriented in one direction and allow tissue approximation without the need to tie surgical knots.
- The Bidirectional Barbed Suture consists of 360 degree bidirectional anchors, armed with a surgical needle on each end. The anchors allow for tissue approximation without the need to tie surgical knots.
Designed as a self-pace module, cases comprise unique educational aids including an anatomical 3D map, real-life videos, visual guidance and objective performance metrics, all intended to help trainees become more confident in this challenging task.
Training includes a variety of potential complications such as suspected injury to the bladder, ureters, colon and iliac vessels.
Real suturing handles allow for the life-like practice of suturing skills.
Objectives:
- To learn and practice suturing of the vaginal cuff using a Unidirectional Barbed Suture.
- To learn and practice suturing of the vaginal cuff using a Bidirectional Barbed Suture.
- To learn to avoid potential complications such as injury to the bladder, ureters, colon and iliac vessels.
