TRANSRADIAL CORONARY INTERVENTION MODULE

Hands-on Practice for Transradial Coronary Angiography and Interventions

This module provides hands-on practice for transradial coronary angiography and interventions. It allows performing angioplasty and stenting using a wide selection of interventional wires, catheters, balloons, and stents. The module includes basic as well as challenging anatomies that present difficulty during transradial approach, such as tortuous subclavian, CABG (LIMA), brachial loop, narrow ascending aorta and dilated ascending aorta. The trainee may experience complications during access or intervention such as spasms, perforations and distal emboli.

Learning Objectives:

  • To practice performing left and right transradial approach for coronary angiography and interventions
  • To practice techniques required to overcome challenging anatomies (tortuous subclavian, CABG and brachial loop)
  • To practice the selection of appropriate coronary catheter curves designated for transradial approach
  • To practice safe engagement of left and right coronary ostium using transradial approach
  • To practice management of radial artery complications (spasm and perforation)
  • To practice patient management including administration of spasmolytic drugs
